Bernie Kosar Set for Surprise Wrestling Appearance Amidst Health Concerns

Apr 3, 2026, 10:30 AM CUT

Bernie Kosar is set for a blockbuster return, and it's not on a football field. Former WWE Heavyweight champion Nic Nemeth posted a message to the anonymous person who attacked him backstage at TNA Sacrifice on Monday. He challenged them to the ring and asked Bernie Kosar to be in his corner on the April 11 showdown.

Well, Kosar has answered. First, Kosar had a vague reply after fans were left surprised by this announcement. “🤔🤔👀👀🤭,” he replied to Nemeth’s request.

Later, he dropped an official confirmation, saying, "April 11th, Rebellion is our hometown. Nick, honored and humbled. Absolutely, I accept. Gonna be in your corner, bringing home the W. On April 11th, you matter. Go Cleveland, go Nick."

It would be a major public appearance from the legend who has battled health issues. He is still recovering from a successful liver transplant, which happened in November after a long battle against cirrhosis.

The former quarterback was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2023. He updates fans occasionally, who revere one of the best Browns players ever.

And Kosar's Entry Has Been Highly Anticipated For the Cleveland Community

When Nemeth made the request, he recognized just how important Kosar was to the city and to the Browns.

"There's nobody that embodies the spirit of the city of Cleveland more than a Cleveland Browns legend, Bernie Kosar. And I think you're the exact right person to be in my corner, to have my back as you've had Cleveland's for all these years. Bernie, I want you out there in my corner."

Kosar set a few franchise records in his illustrious nine years with the Browns. And a 59.3 percent completion rate is one of them. He has the third-highest passing yards with 21,904 among the Browns quarterbacks.

He also led the Browns to three AFC Championships. As per Pro Football Reference, Kosar had 14 fourth-quarter comebacks and 16 game-winning drives in his career. He retired in 1997 after 12 years in the NFL at age 33.
