Bernie Kosar Drops Latest Health Update Following Hospital Release

This New Year wasn't off to a great start for Bernie Kosar, as the NFL legend was hospitalized within the first few days.
But since then, he has shown considerable improvement. The Browns legend has even left the hospital and has shared a health update.
"All right, another day in the ice tub. A little working out. It's getting easier the second day. Getting healthy. Healthy habits. You matter," he said in a video posted on X.
Kosar was admitted in the first place because of complications in his recovery after his liver transplant. He was diagnosed with Cirrhosis and Parkinson’s disease back in 2024.
To tackle the former, the NFL legend underwent a liver transplant on November 17, 2025. His new liver came from 21-year-old donor Bryce Dunlap, a Browns fan who passed away before donating.
These transplants can often lead to complications due to the body's reaction to the new liver. But it's not much of a worry since the doctor prepared Bernie Kosar for these complications during the critical first 90 days and six months following surgery.
"These are not at all rare type things. These types of bumps in the road, infections, type of minor rejections, unfortunately, I'm figuring out, are very typical when you go through things like this," he said.
As of now, the former Browns' QB is fit enough to go back to football.
Bernie Kosar is Healthy Enough to Enjoy Football
The regular hospital visits have not been able to break the positive and wholesome energy Kosar carries with himself. Neither have they been able to shake his love for football.
The legend posted a video on X captioned, "Emotional being back & walking into the @hardrockstadium. Let’s do this. Go @canesfootball🙌🏻." He had travelled to Miami to support the Hurricanes, who went up against the Indiana Hoosiers in college football’s national championship game.
Bernie Kosar was himself the QB of the Miami Hurricanes back in the day and also led them to the 1983 National Championship. But this time, the game did not go the way he would have wanted as the Hoosiers won 27-21. But as long as he is healthy enough to enjoy such games, it's a win.
