Ben Roethlisberger Dismisses Myles Garrett’s Claims About Steelers’ Focus

Jan 1, 2026, 11:30 AM CUT

The Cleveland caused an upset and registered their fourth consecutive win over the Steelers on their home turf.

Many fans claimed that Pittsburgh was more focused on Myles Garrett’s sack record than on winning. Well, tell that to the Steelers’ legend, Ben Roethlisberger, who straight up denied those claims.

Talking on Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, the two-time Super Bowl winner, stated that the claim was “ridiculous.” He said that the Steelers did exactly what they did the last time they won, always prioritizing defending against players like Myles Garrett.

“It is absolutely ridiculous. Myles Garrett is a stud. You’re going to people on him whether he’s on 10 sacks or 21 and a half sacks. Like, that’s just how you play him. They’ve done it since I was there,” he stated.

The Pittsburgh defense did keep the 30-year-old quiet in the game, with the latter only recording 1 tackle. However, the Steelers weren’t that good offensively, failing to score a single touchdown in the entire match.

Garrett has recorded 22 sacks in 16 games this season and is just 1 sack shy of breaking the record. Currently, Michael Strahan and T.J.Watt are both tied with 22.5 sacks. With the Browns only having one game left to play against the Bengals, the seven-time Pro Bowler will get one last chance to create history.

Alex Wright believes Myles Garrett will break the record

The story of the Week 18 game between the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals is whether Myles Garrett breaks the sack record or not.

Well, while nobody knows the future, his teammate Alex Wright trusts him to break it. The Browns’ defensive end appeared on Andrew Siciliano’s Bark Tank and talked about the 29-year-old’s determination to accomplish that milestone.

“When it comes to Myles, he’s always getting triple-teamed, he’s always getting double-teamed. They’re always sending extra his way… he might have to fight through four people, he’s gonna find a way regardless someway, somehow.”

Wright wasn’t bad himself playing against the Steelers, recording 4 tackles, a sack, and a stuff. His performance this season overall has been impressive, with 20 solo tackles, 5.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Let us know in the comments if you think the Wright-Garrett duo will wreak havoc against the Bengals.
