The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife have welcomed a newborn son and she shared an emotional post about the joyous occasion.

They welcomed their baby on April 16, 2026. Emily Wilkinson Mayfield took to her Instagram and posted a picture of their son’s feet on her story, and announced their baby Mav’s arrival on Wednesday. 

 “Soaking up these sweet moments as a family of 4+,” Emily wrote.

According to an ESPN report, Baker Mayfield recalled his early days with his now-wife, Emily Mayfield. 

It was a mutual friend, Patrick Hayes, who introduced them in the first place and asked her if he could share her number with Mayfield. However, she didn’t seem interested in it at first. 

So, Baker Mayfield went to his Instagram and kept following and unfollowing Emily Mayfield. Later on, she finally allowed Hayes to share her number with him and they started exhanging messages. Eventually, she agreed to go on a lunch date with Mayfield.

Rest is history, as within six months of being together, both of them got engaged in June 2018. 

Emily Mayfield also shared how she felt a “gut feeling” during the lunch date that he was the one for her.

“The entire time he was asking questions about me, about my family, it was not the Baker show,” Emily said. “… After, I went home and texted my mom and sister and said, ‘I think I might marry this guy.’ I just had this weird gut feeling.”

They soon got married on July 6, 2019, at the Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California, and welcomed their first baby, Kova Jade Mayfield, on April 9, 2024.

According to ESPN, when Baker Mayfield got Emily Mayfield’s number, he invited her to watch him play during the 2018 Rose Bowl first, before going to their lunch date the previous day.

She revealed that before getting to know him, she had a completely different mindset about him. 

“I was assuming he'd be the typical Playboy athlete,” she stated.

But within a few days of spending time together, Baker Mayfield moved in with Emily Wilkinson and her brothers in L.A., and since then, nothing has split them apart, and their relationship has grown beyond.

They also adopted their dog, Fergus, who wore a “big brother” bandana when the couple announced their first pregnancy, via Instagram.

And soon after, she announced their baby girl’s arrival.

“She is truly everything we prayed for, and more,” Wilkinson wrote on Instagram. “Daddy is so smitten, and Mama wants to pause time forever & make these days last forever.”
