Andrew Berry Warns Off NFL Franchises Over Potential Myles Garrett Trade

Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry has shut down any lingering trade rumors. Myles Garrett isn't going anywhere. Speaking at the league meetings on Monday, Berry put a definitive end to any trade speculation.
Berry announced that Garrett is a “career Browns” during the NFL teams’ meeting, held on Monday. Insider Mary Kay Cabot reported this on X.
“#Browns GM Andrew Berry confirms at the #NFL meetings that they’re not trading Myles Garrett,” she wrote.
“If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have needed to make a contract adjustment. So it doesn't have anything to do with that... Myles is a career Brown. He is one of the faces of our organization. I think we've been very clear both past and present,” he said, according to Browns Wire.
Garrett first made headlines when he asked for a trade in the 2025 preseason after the Browns reached a new low of a 3-14 record. In an open letter, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year admitted that he cannot see himself winning a Super Bowl with the Browns.
The offense was already lacking, and losing Garrett would’ve dismantled the defense. So the management acted quickly and splurged on a $160 million contract extension for four years. And most recently, they restructured his contract.
Myles Garrett’s Restructured Contract Raised More Questions
Under the renewed terms, his bonus pay dates have been pushed back seven days from their initial dates.
Moreover, $8 million from his 2029 and 2030 base salaries were moved into roster bonuses early in each league year. When the deal was announced, many experts believed the new structure made the contract tradable, which would lower future cap hits for the Browns.
And this reignited hopes of seeing Garrett play for the Dallas Cowboys. However, NFL insider Adam Schefter dismissed the idea, reporting that “they’re 100% not trading Myles Garrett.”
Garrett is among the best defensive ends in the league. Last season, he set a new record for most sacks by a player in a season with 23. And the Browns need him to maintain their elite defense.
Yet, what are your thoughts? Are you happy for Garrett?
