GM Andrew Berry led Cleveland Browns picked wide receiver KC Concepcion with their 24th overall pick on Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Before the Browns picked Concepcion, three other teams chose their wide receivers as the Browns traded down from their initial pick, slotted at #6 to #9 (along with 2 more late round picks). This move is followed up with a fair share of skepticism because of Conception’s glaring drop rate.

The 22-year-old is coming from Texas A&M with a concerning drop rate of 10.3 percent to 11.7 percent in the 2025 season. And in the last two years, his drops tallied up to 19, which is roughly a 7.9% to 9.3% career rate.

Concepcion spent the first two years of his college career at North Carolina State and eventually transferred to Texas.

There, he totaled 61 receptions for 919 receiving yards and scored nine receiving touchdowns. He added one touchdown from 10 carries for 75 rushing yards.

He will join the wide receivers room that features Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman. And younger players like Isaiah Bond, Luke Floriea, and Gage Larvadain.

But his addition to the Browns is a major concern for quarterbacks like Shedeur Sanders. Concepcion does not promise to solve one of their biggest issues from last season.

Can KC Concepcion Add Depth to the Wide Receivers’ Room?

The Browns' wide receivers' production lacked significantly last season. Jerry Jeudy led the team but managed 602 yards from 50 receptions. The WR was targeted 106 times and scored only two touchdowns.

Tillman recorded 21 receptions from 39 targets and scored two touchdowns for 270 yards. On the flip side, Isaiah Bond made 18 receptions for 338 yards and did not score a single TD. And neither did Malachi Corley.

So, picking a wide receiver in the first round was certainly a priority. However, the decision to choose Concepcion certainly raises some questions. Especially after ESPN’s Bill Barnwell ranked their wide receivers’ performance at No.29 last season.

But on the flip side, Concepcion has the potential to grow into a better player with time. He was a 2025 Consensus All-American at Returner & 2025 First-Team All-SEC at WR. He won the 2025 Paul Hornung Award for the most versatile player in major college football.

The Browns have ticked off one priority off their draft list with Concepcion. Who else the Browns pick, and they improve from last year’s record, is to be seen. What are your thoughts? Tell us in the comments.
