Andrew Berry Hints at QB Change, Leaving Shedeur Sanders' Future in Air

Kevin Stefanski’s sacking from the head coaching position at the Browns has brought some big changes. One of those is the quarterback position, involving Shedeur Sanders.

In the press conference held right after Stefanski’s departure, Berry was asked about the QB situation for the next season. And Berry didn’t directly name Sanders as the starting QB for next season. In fact, they were unsure whether the signal caller would be someone from the roster or a completely fresh face.

“I can’t tell you today if the starter in 2026 is internal or external,” Berry said.

Cleveland and Stefanski faced serious QB issues throughout the season. First, they traded Joe Flacco to the Bengals, then rookie Dillon Gabriel got injured, and now this comes after Sanders has shown some glimpses of his potential.

In seven starts this season, Sanders has scored 7 touchdowns for 1400 passing yards. Unfortunately, during this period, the 23-year-old also threw 7 interceptions and was sacked 23 times.

Fans and analysts’ opinions are divided on him. While some say he has done enough to be a starter for the Browns next season, ‌others don’t see the potential.

Shedeur Sanders sure thinks he has done enough

The fans have seen rookie Shedeur Sanders enough to pass any judgment on him. However, he feels confident in his talent and thinks he has a great job with the limited opportunities he ‌has had this season.

In the press conference after the Browns’ 20-18 win over the Bengals, the 23-year-old stated he had grown a lot from his past mistakes. “I think I did. What I was able to do. I definitely grew from a lot of things. I got experience now.”

However, despite performing well, Sanders thinks that it’s not in his hands to be the starting QB for Cleveland next season. “Always the same confidence wise, I’m there. It’s not in my hands,” he said.

In his seventh start against Cincinnati, there were still major holes in his game. He threw for only 111 passing yards and didn’t score any touchdowns.

Moreover, Sanders completed just 50% of his passes and was sacked 6 times. Thanks to the defensive unit and a major blunder by the Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow, Cleveland managed to take the win.

With Andrew Berry stating that they will be searching for a QB, will Sanders get a chance to prove himself next season? Let us know in the comments!
