Alligator Tears: Browns Fans Angry at Myles Garrett Following Recent Statement

Myles Garrett, the overall No.1 pick of the Browns during the 2017 NFL Draft, was traded to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday.

On Tuesday, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year during his introductory conference with the Rams, spoke fondly of his former home with the Cleveland Browns, where he spent nine years.

“It tears at you to leave and break away,” said Garrett about Cleveland becoming a second home to him and his family.

Per Scott Polacek of the Bleacher Report, Garrett added that he found out about the trade only a week ago.

“Since the beginning, it's always been about winning. I will always have love in my heart for Cleveland and the city,” said Garrett.

After his introductory conference, Garrett posted a long statement on X looking back at the “nine unforgettable years” and thanked the city, the team, the owners and the fans of the Browns.

"What I can say with complete honesty is this: I gave this city everything I had," he wrote. "I suited up and wore those colors with pride, and I don't regret a second of being part of this storied franchise."

The reason for the Browns fans being upset with Garrett’s statement is that the DE himself had requested a trade a couple of times and wanted to “break away” from Cleveland.

Browns Fans Irked by Garrett’s Statement for Cleveland After Trade

Browns fans took to the comment section of Browns Insider, Mary Kay Cabot, to express their dissatisfaction with Garrett’s recent comment of “It tears at you to leave and break away (from Cleveland).”

“No it doesn’t,” a fan replied to the statement.

“Dinosaur tears as opposed to alligator tears,” added a fan to the conversation.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network shared that Garrett stated in February last year that his desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow him to be complacent. He added that his ultimate goal has been to win the Super Bowl.

Garrett then concluded his statement with a request that he wants to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.

“Lol this dude acting like he didn’t do radio row request a trade last year lol,” commented a Browns fan.

“Then why did he ask for a trade 2Yrs ago…Really tears at him,” another added.

A month later, after asking to be traded in 2025, Garrett signed a four-year contract extension with the Browns, amounting to $160 million.

“He wanted off the team in 2025, really don’t buy this at all. He knows we have a s***** owner,”

The fan voiced the sentiments of many other Browns fans who believe that Garrett is performing, as he has long desired to move to a Super Bowl contender team.
