Alarm Bells for Shedeur Sanders as NFL Analyst Links Top QB Prospect to Browns
Shedeur Sanders' future as Cleveland's QB1 remains in question. Now, top NFL analyst Todd McShay has linked the Browns to a coveted quarterback prospect.
On the latest episode of the Up And Adam Show, NFL expert Todd McShay shared that he is a big fan of Ty Simpson and weighed in on the Browns picking him.
“I am a big Ty Simpson fan, despite the 6-1, the injuries, and the 15 starts. But I’m already starting to hear, ‘could he go as high as Cleveland?” he said.
The 23-year-old quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide is one of the most sought-after quarterback prospects. In the 2025 season, he recorded 28 touchdowns across 3,567 yards, throwing five interceptions.
Last season, Shedeur Sanders debuted in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens and remained consistent throughout. However, his eight touchdowns for 1,400 yards have not completely won over management.
Sanders has faced criticism for his poor tendency to hold on to the ball. While the Browns' defense failed to protect him effectively, Sanders' shortcoming was part of the reason he got intercepted 10 times.
Does Shedeur Sanders stand a chance?
Considering the 2026 season is Watson’s last with the Browns, and his $230 million contract had left little room to buy a new QB.
Moreover, many supporters came forth and backed Sanders, cutting him slack for his rookie year. The Browns' offensive unit, ranked 30th, lacked dependable wide receivers.
Despite his lackluster performance, Sanders landed his first-ever Pro Bowl game during his rookie season. Moreover, his positive interaction with new head coach Todd Monken, who has a successful track record for turning around offenses and improving quarterbacks, could be the perfect launch pad for a better season.
It is also noteworthy that McShay said he hopes Simpson does not end up in the Browns since they are not equipped to handle another player.
“They don’t have the protection, they don’t have the weapons, loev to see him with the Ram,” he stated. Yet, what's your take? Tell us in the comments.
