Adam Schefter Weighs In on Why Raiders Could Explore WR Market

The Las Vegas Raiders made big moves in the offseason. Yet, could they be lacking in wide receiver room? ESPN analyst Adam Schefter believes they could use veteran receivers to complete their squad.

Appearing on NFL on ESPN, Adam Schefter said, "You take a look at the wide receivers out there right now. Clearly, they’re not getting the money they want, but it is a decorated group and yes, there’s age and injury question marks, but think about some of the names at the free agent position that are now available: Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, Brandon Aiyuk is trying to talk his way out of San Francisco, Keenan Allen."

Schefter's not wrong. The Raiders added Fernando Mendoza to their squad, a rookie QB. Although he displayed strong numbers in his final college year, a strong group of receivers could help.

We saw just how impactful it has been with the New England Patriots. Veteran Stefon Diggs joined the Patriots and helped Drake Maye to 4,394 passing yards and 31 touchdowns. Diggs managed 1013 receiving yards along with four touchdowns.

Similarly, the likes of Deebo Samuel, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, and Brandon Aiyuk remained steady performers for their team and could be the stability the team needs with their offense.

But where do the Raiders stand on their wide receiver room?

GM John Spytek Is Keeping His Option Open

In a conversation with Kay Adams on her show, John Spytek explained that while other teams may find the Raiders' receiver room underwhelming, he felt confident about their capability. Nevertheless, he's still weighing his options.

"Listen, we’re never gonna stop turning the roster, we’re not gonna devalue any position. But we’re not gonna force any position, either. And there’s a lot of tough decisions that get made and we’re in the team building exercise here. We’re not in just talent acquisition and we’ve got to be mindful of every position room in our team and the right way to build the football team," he said on the show, as per Heavy.

With the training camp coming up in the next few weeks, Spytek and the Raiders will be closely evaluating the receiver corps.
